The Central Valley offers numerous events during the summer months. And as the temperatures heat up, now is a good time to check some of these out. Divided by months, below are some ideas the whole family can enjoy!

June

Located in Kerman, California, Solace Lavender Farm is a small, family-owned farm that specializes in growing lavender-the ultimate feel-good flower! This unique farm offers lavender u-pick days, lavender goods, and a place for photo sessions. If you can’t make it to Kerman, you can find Solace lavender at the Flower Market in downtown Fresno. This delightful, purple flower offers multiple therapeutic benefits!

Billed a “museum like no other,” Hearst Castle resides in San Simeon, a tight-knit community situated in one of California’s most picturesque areas. Conceived by William Randolf Hearst, this legendary California estate, offers numerous tours of its iconic rooms, gardens, and extensive art collection.

July

In early July, golf aficionados can drive to California’s iconic and breathtaking Pebble Beach to watch this year’s 78th Women’s US Open-the first time in history, Pebble Beach has hosted this event. Will Monterey native, Mina Harigae, return home and be victorious as she sees a resurgence in her career? Rated the number one public golf course in America, Pebble Beach is a wonderful destination for a family day trip.

For 12 days each July, California’s “Biggest Little Fair Anywhere,” the Mid-State Fair takes place at the event center in Paso Robles. This year’s concert series features musicians, Tim McGraw, Pitbull, Luke Bryan and more. In addition to the live music, the fair offers numerous activities each day including rodeo, tractor pulls, a carnival, food vendors and more! Click here for tickets.

August

In early August, garlic lovers can immerse themselves in all things garlic and the 2nd Annual California Garlic Festival in Stockton, California. This two-day, family friendly event showcases numerous garlic dishes to taste, cooking demonstrations, Monster Truck rides, a splash zone, arts and crafts vendors, and a photography contest! This bulbous, flowering plant has long been used to flavor dishes and even boasts numerous health benefits!

When it’s time to escape the Central Valley August heat, families can turn to Miller’s Landing at Bass Lakes for Movies on the Water. This summer’s movies are “The Great Outdoors” and “Moana.” The Bass Lake area offers numerous, family-friendly, heat-beating activities the whole family can enjoy!

September

In early September, Boots in the Park returns to Fresno’s Woodward Park. This year’s featured musical guest is Kane Brown. Other musical guests include Tyler Hubbard, Jimmie Allen, Leaving Austin, and Luwiss Lux. Along with live music, attendees can experience craft food and cocktails, interactive art installations, line dancing, and more!

Opai! Rounding out summer events in the Central Valley is Fresno’s Greek Fest. California’s premier Greek Festival takes place at the beautiful St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Fresno, CA. This annual family favorite includes tasty Greek foods (Gyros, Souvlaki, Spanakopita), music, a Greek market, art appreciation, and shopping!
